About Focus to Infinity

My name is Philip Weller. I am 36 years old, a husband, and father of two. I take photographs for fun, but I take them seriously. You'll find some of them on this site. I've been taking pictures since around age 12 when my sister gave me my first camera, a Kodak Disc 4000. About a year later, my father bought me my first SLR, a Pentax Program Plus. I thank them both.

There are many reasons I love photography. If you asked me to pick just one I wouldn't be able to, so here are two.

1. Photography is equal parts Art and Science.
2. Photography lets me show someone something in a way that they might not have seen it before.

My dreams currently outstrip my equipment, but I'm always learning about extracting the best from what I do have:

• Nikon D40x (My workhorse.)
• Nikon N75 (I find shooting film beneficial because it exercises a different part of my brain.)
• Canon SD770 IS (A point & shoot that goes in my pocket when an SLR can't go with me.)

Lenses

• AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm ƒ/3.5-5.6G ED II
• AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm ƒ/4-5.6G IF-ED
• AF Zoom-Nikkor 35-105mm ƒ/3.5-4.5
• 55mm ƒ/3.5 Micro-Nikkor-P Auto (Around 40 years old, provides no metering or EXIF data to modern Nikons, but sharp as a tack and macro to boot.)
• AF Nikkor 50mm ƒ/1.8D

Lighting

• 2 LumoPro LP120 Flashes
• 3 Interfit COR750 7.5' Light Stands
• 2 Westcott 43" White Umbrellas
• Cactus V2 Radio Trigger and 2 Recievers
• A growing assortment of DIY modifiers and accessories (diffusers, reflectors, a background stand, gobos, snoots, grids, and even a beauty dish)
